Venezuela Mission News

Dear Friends in Christ,

Grace, mercy, and peace be unto all of you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During this 40 days of Lent we have an opportunity to reflect on the great sacrifice that Christ made to redeem mankind.

On Ash Wednesday we observed the custom of applying ashes to the foreheads of our members. A special offering was received for the earthquake victims in Colombia.

Pastor Gerardo Hands returned to Brasil to finish up his coursework at the seminary in Sao Paulo. He will be returning to Venezuela on the 16th of May.

Our church in Barinas, Corpus Christi, celebrated its 4th anniversary on the 21st of February. A church olympics event was celebrated and Anna competed in the foot race between the toddlers. Kathy had to hold her up by her arms but she finished the race!

The youth of Corpus Christi are planning the regional encuentro for the western region of Venezuela that will be celebrated in the last week of August. They have put in a great amount of effort and their planning is moving along very well.

Anna is getting ready to walk on her own. She now can walk when she has something or somebody to cling to. The legal steps for her adoption are still being processed by the courts.

Prayer requests:

1. For Dr. William Weinrich of the Fort Wayne seminary who is undergoing treatment for prostrate cancer.

2. For our outreach efforts in Valencia.

3. For the new Venezuelan government

4. For Rev. Edmund Mielke and his wife Frieda, who will be moving to Valencia.

Prayers of Thanksgiving:

1. For the increase enrollment at the Fort Wayne seminary.

2. For Anna´s continued growth.

3. For the fruits of our evangelistic efforts.

Soli Deo Gloria,
Dan,Kathy, and Anna
