TITLE: CHRIST IS THE ROCKTUNE: BUILT ON THE ROCK
By Rev. Jim Meyer
Christ is the Rock for sinful man,
The Cornerstone once rejected,
He's our foundation where we stand
Born of a Virgin elected
God chose her not 'cause she was good,
But to bring the Christ through Childhood
To his half-father connectedA cattle stall was all that bid
Christ Jesus, God's Son to our world,
In Him was God Almighty hid
In flesh his blood for men outpoured
On a dark and lonely tree
A place of death called Calvary,
At which the Christ became our LordSurely He was our Lord always,
But as a Law God not Gospel,
His cross for us makes Him the Way
Through which He faced God's Law docile
Just as a lamb is led to be
Slaughtered, was He upon the tree
Great is His Love and ColossalChrist is the Rock of Long Ago
And of Today and Tomorrow,
He doesn't change, yes He says so,
Who bore all sin and all sorrow
So He could rise triumphantly,
The once despised, to set us free
Putting up never a quarrelChrist is the Rock born Christmas Day,
The one of whom angels boasted,
The shepherds shocked, came right away,
To see Messiah there posted
In a lone manger He did lay,
His cross for sinners does display
For love of us was He roastedFor He had come to take God's wrath,
To suffer hell for us sinners,
But although it was a grim Bloodbath,
Now through His washing we're winners,
Winners of Him, eternal rest,
Not by our merits we confess,
Yet He who o'ercame Sin dwells in us
