Mueller an Expert, but Cascione a Carpetbagger

Exerpt from the Kansas District Newsletter for April:

Kansas District 1999 Worship Convocation
Oct 31 - Nov 2, 1999
Wichita Marriott
Speakers - Dr. Paul Maier, Rev. Charlie Mueller and other major presenters
Focus: Worship and Worship Leadership in the life of a congregation

This conference is for Pastors, Elders, Educators, Organists, Choir Directors, and all those responsible for, or interested in the worship life of your congregation. This conference will be in conjuction with the Fall Pastor/Teacher Conference.

{Ed. The ubiquitous Charles Mueller will bring his Church Growth and Conteporary Worship views to Kansas (perhaps for the third or fouth time, as he has done in Texas) in the Fall. Mueller tells a lot of funny stories and personal anecdotes which a Texas District Vice President called "wonderful Gospel." Besides this innocuous mush, Mueller peddles the worldly notion that big congregations should get more votes at conventions than small ones. We have our system to keep big congregations from abusing the small ones. But, that is okay with Mueller who told a group of us from growing counties at a luncheon in Corpus Christi that big congregations don't have to follow convention resolutions that encourage close communion and the like, if we think it will hamper our congregation's growth.

It seems okay to pay big bucks to import Expert Mueller for processing our pastors and teachers into Methobapticostals, but if Cascione comes free of charge to promote real Lutheranism he is a Carpetbagger.}
