The Order of Vespers bracketed the Rite of Installation with "Come, Holy Ghost, God and Lord' as the Processional, "Lord, Keep Us Steadfast In Thy Word" as the sermon hymn and "A Mighty Fortress" as the Recessional. The Scriptures were Psalm104, Isaiah 29:18, 19, 2 Corinthians 3:4-11, and Mark 7:31-37, with the last serving as the sermon text.

The Organist was Patsy Williams.

The congregation hosted a dinner following the service.

Pastor Heiser is married to Denise Crist, and they are blessed with two children: John, 4 and Anastasia, 8 months. Pastor graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1995, but remained there for a year to work toward the Master of Sacred Theology degree, focusing on the theology of the Age of Lutheran Orthodoxy (1580 - 1713). He comes to Salem from Our Redeemer Lurtheran Church in Forsyth, Ill. where he was Pastoral Assistant to Rev. Thomas Hoyt.

Rev. Heiser has operated Repristination Press since June 1993, publishing volumes of Lutheran Theology. The Press will follow him to Texas.
