Ed. Evangelical Lutheran Pastors do a lot of things well. Well instructed lay people do a lot of things well. Pastors instruct lay people in the Scriptures and Confessions as part of their calling. No one lords it over anyone in a faithful congregation. Christ is Lord through His Word. May this parody not fit any in our church!Oh, that the Board would guide my ways, When I suggest to them That being true gives God true praise, They look at me like phlegm The Board of Ed, of Elders and All the rest of the bored, Have everything so well in hand, That they don't need the Lord I need the Board cuz they're so wise As to what makes church work, It's not the Word, that's a surprise, I must just be a jerk They say it's dough that makes church go, So I'd best not tick off The pillars who have wallets full, Though at the Lord they scoff They think that "What Would Jesus Do?" Is cool to the max, They want our youth to think so too, Not all those cross, tomb facts The Board resents that I sit in On some of their meetings, I guess they're right, it must be sin To interrupt feedings The Board feeds on the stuff that comes O'er "Christian" radio, The most outrageous lies become Okay to say, you know? Oh, that the Board would guide my ways, Cuz I guess I'm naive, I always thought that God we praise When His Word we believe!
