1880 Census for Lamar County, Texas, shows Allen age 34, born in Tennessee and Mary age 34, born in Alabama. Allen died in 1887 and Mary died in 1905. Both are buried in Detroit, Texas, Red River County.

Lonnie Moore was born March 13th, 1887 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. He married Bessie Murel Austin on October 4th, 1914. Lonnie died October 21th, 1977 and is buried in Tahoka, Texas, Lynn County. Children: Bural Austin, Mary, Lonnie Dee Jr., James Woodard, Herman Allen, Mytrle Faye, Ruby Lee, Richard Andrew, Willie Clara, and Olen Ray.

Franklin Lafayette Moore, better known as Fate, was born January 13th, 1881. He married Emma Rue McCurdy. Fate died April 1st, 1970 and is buried in Paris, Texas, Lamar County. Children: Clessie, Murel, Naomia, Anona, and Berlin.

Allen Pinkie Moore was born May 16th, 1876 in Texas probably Paris, Lamar County. He married Rosa Allie Wright of Cooper, Texas, Delta County. He died March 15th, 1956 and is buired in Crosby, Texas, Harris County. Children: Elmer, Otto, Jessie Earl, Bessie Inez, Lela Lee, Allen Pinkie, and Rosie Estelle.

Elmer Ira Moore was born January 28th, 1901 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. He married O'Dessie Mitchell on January 28th, 1919. Elmer died in 1963 and is buried in Highlands, Texas, Harris County. Children: Allie Mae, James R., Elmer Ira Jr., and Reba Odell.

Otto Moore was born May 15th, 1905. He never married and had no known children. Otto died March 24th, 1987 and is buried in Jacksonville, Texas, Cherokee County.

Jessie Earl Moore was born in 1908 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. Jessie died in 1944. Jessie had some form of epilepsy from which he died of in a state mental institution located in Witchita Falls, Texas, Witchita County.

Bessie Inez Moore was born December 27th, 1910 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. She married Ira LZ Jones on November 26th, 1928. Inez died April 30th, 1980 and is buried in Steep Hollow, Texas, Brazos County. Children: Twins Billie Wayne and Mark Twain, Lewis Eugene, Edwin Leon, Mary Elizabeth "Nell", Katherine Marie, Johnny L, David Wesley, Tommy LZ, and Danny L.

Lela Lee Moore was born August 31st, 1912 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. She married William Earl Taylor on November 26th, 1932. Lela died May 24th, 1994 and is buried in Phoenix, Arizona, Maricopa County. Children: John Allen, Lela Lou, Willie Odelia, Darlene Rose, and William Ray.

Allen Pinkie Moore (Jr.) was born January 28th, 1914 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. He married Vinabelle Turner. Both Allen and his wife are still alive. Children: Euclid Doyle, Betty C., Juanita C., Dee Etta, Loretta J., and Venessa L.

Rosie Estelle Moore was born December 15th, 1916 in Cooper, Texas, Delta County. She married William Dial. Rosie died November 14th, 1966 and is buried in Highlands, Texas, Harris County. No Children.


After attending an annual Moore family reunion in July, 1997, I received a wealth of genealogical information that was collected and passed down by Lonnie Moore's wife, Bessie. She kept a family group sheet on each member. It is almost better that a family bible. Her records helped me to find Allen and Mary Moore, my great-great-grandparents. I am currently researching them and looking for their parents.

Bessie's notes indicate that Allen had a brother named J. (or T.) Newton Moore who was a Dentist in Kensett, Arkansas. Newton's wife was Minnie and they had three daughters. Allen and Mary lived in Detroit, Texas, Red River County. Detroit is 18 miles east of Paris on US 87. Allen died in 1887 and Mary died in 1905. Both are buried in Detroit.
