Cornell University Legal Information Institute
A great source for legal information.

Law Journal Extra
Provides analyses of state and federal labor laws and weighs their impact on employers; and plain English court decisions from employment-related cases around the country.

Supreme Compliance, Inc.
Sexual harassment rules have changed again. This site aims to educate employers about their new exposure to liability and their duties in preventing and correcting incidents of workplace sexual harassment.

Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA)
Prohibits age discrimination in employment.

Americans with Disabilities Act Document Center
ADA statute whose purpose is to establish a clear and comprehensive prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability. The site also contains guidelines, fact sheets, and other assistance material.

Title VII, Civil Rights Act of 1964
Prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Civil Rights Act of 1991
Amends Title VII, Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA)
Allows terminated employees or those who lose coverage because of reduced work hours to buy group coverage for themselves and their families for limited periods of time. Proposed regulations 1/98.

Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as Amended
Establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record-keeping and child labor standards. DOL's Tests for Exempt Status under the Fair Labor Standards Act by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job- protected leave each year for specified family and medical reasons.

HIPAA Fact Sheet
The DOL provides guidance on the Health Insurance Portability Act. You can also find a pamphlet, Model certificate and notice.

Mental Health Parity Act of 1996
Provides equal benefits for mental conditions as compared to physical conditions.

Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, amended 1990
Assures safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women. Site contains OSHA standards and related documents.
